TAG farmers view performance targets

TAG farmers view performance targets

Farmers taking part in the Technology, Agriculture and Greater Efficiencies (TAG) project now have a new resource at hand to measure their flock performance through the Target Performance reports produced by the TAG project’s database.

The performance information is processed from data collected by farmers using their on-farm EID equipment.  Individual passwords allow the TAG farmers to access reports that outline the daily live weight gain of individual lambs, lamb slaughter reports, and sheep movements.

Efficiencies can also be measured using flock performance reports that highlight the  number of lambs weaned with the number of ewes that went to tup.

Analysis of the performance reports allow farmers to make informed management and husbandry decisions that can lead to greater efficiencies and enhanced profitability.

During the summer the project will be sharing some of its findings at shows and agricultural events throughout Wales, including the Royal Welsh Show at Builth Wells during July.

The TAG project is financed by the Supply Chain Efficiencies Scheme of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007 - 2013, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

The project is delivered by Menter a Busnes and if you would like to receive any further information please contact Siôn Ifans on 01970 636294.
